It’s Right There!

After turning on a dime and diving, a Short-eared Owl flies low through an Illinois prairie in search of an evening snack.

A closer look

Short-eared Owls feed primarily on small mammals—especially voles, mice, and other rodents—but they may also take shrews and other prey when available. They hunt by coursing low over open ground, sometimes hovering briefly before dropping onto prey, and they often locate targets by sound, most actively around dawn and dusk. (Source: A-Z Animals)

Many of these moments eventually find their way into the Fine Art Print Store, where a curated selection of wildlife and nature prints is available.
