Enjoying the Spring Sunset

A bonded pair of Sandhill Cranes pause for a moment from foraging to enjoy a beautiful spring sunset. This couple had recently lost both of their colts, so it was sobering to watch them walk along the grassy ridge, but also soothing knowing they have each other and they will try again next year.

Life in the Wild

In the wild, many Sandhill Cranes die young due to predation, with survival rates hovering around 50 percent. However, if they make it through their first two years, they are likely to reach 15 to 20 years of age. (Source: Birdfact)

Some of these moments eventually find their way into the Fine Art Print Store, where a curated selection of wildlife and nature prints is available.
