Smoky Sunset

The average distance from the earth to the sun is ~ 93 million miles, but it sure doesn’t seem that far when it sets big and orange and red through the smoke and the haze. For the last month or so, the smoke from the western fires combined with the heat and haze has given us a few evenings of brilliant sunsets here in northern Illinois. Have always been fascinated with how the sun looks and changes as it sinks through the layers of the condensed atmosphere toward the horizon.
