Godspeed Little Goldfinch

A male American Goldfinch flew out of the pine trees to a patch of sunflowers, and while in flight a smaller bird appeared from the meadow and settled beside him. It quickly became clear this was a recently fledged goldfinch, reaching toward its father for food before flying off again in search of its next perch.

Worth knowing

Goldfinches are among the strictest vegetarians in the bird world, feeding almost entirely on seeds and plant material and only inadvertently consuming insects. This plant-based diet is one reason they’re so closely tied to thistles, sunflowers, and other seed-producing plants. (Source: All About Birds)
