Time for Me to Fly
The goldfinches have now traded their summer brilliance for softer winter tones, but it wasn’t long ago they were glowing yellow. Here, one lifts off from a red sunflower, moments after a curious bumblebee drifted in for a closer look.
From the Field
Goldfinches weave their nests so tightly that they can briefly hold water after a rain. To keep those nests secure, they rely on spider silk to bind the structure to twigs and small branches, creating a flexible yet remarkably strong foundation. (Source: Bird Feeder Hub)
