Beautiful Blackbird

She doesn’t have all the flash and color of many other birds, but when this female Red-winged Blackbird took a perch on a white goosefoot plant facing the morning sun, I couldn’t resist a capture. With the light on her face and a confident pose, she looked simply beautiful.

Did you know?

There are at least 22 subspecies of Red-winged Blackbirds, most of which look remarkably similar. The Red-winged Blackbird belongs to the Icteridae family of birds, which also includes Brown-headed Cowbirds, Grackles, and Orioles. (Source: Birdorable)
