Orange-winged
While observing sandhill cranes forage along the marsh, a Red-winged Blackbird took flight from a nearby reed. That flash of color on the wings always gives pause—it looks more orange than red in flight, though “Red-winged” certainly has a better ring to it.
From the field:
Red-winged Blackbirds roost in flocks throughout the year. During summer, smaller groups remain in breeding wetlands, while winter flocks can swell to several million birds, often mixing with other blackbird species and starlings. Each morning the roosts disperse, sometimes traveling up to 50 miles to feed, before re-forming again at night. (Source: All About Birds)
Some of these moments eventually find their way into the Fine Art Print Store, where a curated selection of wildlife and nature prints is available.
