Face-to-Face with Ruby

A male Ruby-throated Hummingbird flits by and hovers face-to-face for a few brief seconds, as if to say, “Oh yeah, I put the ruby in Ruby-throated,” before continuing on with his business.

Built for Flight, Not Walking

Although hummingbirds use their legs to perch while resting and feeding, they don’t walk or hop like most birds, instead relying almost entirely on flight, a design that keeps them highly aerodynamic and energy efficient. (Source: Learn Bird Watching)

Many of these fleeting encounters eventually find their way into the Fine Art Print Store, where a curated selection of wildlife and nature photographs is available.
