Looking for a Mate
Perched quietly among the reeds, this female Yellow-headed Blackbird scans the marsh, one of several females drawn to a male’s carefully defended territory during the breeding season.
Nesting and Early Development
Both parents feed the nestlings, which leave the nest after about 9 to 12 days but remain hidden among dense marsh vegetation until they are ready to fly roughly three weeks after hatching, with one brood per year and occasionally two. (Source: Audubon)
