Where’s my Mate?

Our favorite Mama eagle was up in her cottonwood tree looking and waiting for her new suitor on Sunday. After all, it’s the time of year for romance and other eagle pairs are pretty “active” already (the ones in Iowa anyway). We’re hoping the new suitor knows the ropes and we’ll have more eaglets calling out for Mama in the near future.

According to one of the other folks at the nest, she had been up in the tree for quite a long time, perhaps a couple of hours. And she must have been getting tired because if you look closely at the image, you can see she has her left leg and talon hanging below the branch, so she was giving one of her legs a rest as they do from time to time.
