Cooper’s Hawk Stare

The other evening with the last light of the day shining through the shadows, a Cooper’s Hawk (perhaps a juvenile?) flew in and perched in a pear tree not far from where I was enjoying the birds and looking for a final capture of the day. Just so happened it landed in a spot where some of the last sun was shining, nice stroke of luck. It keenly looked around back and forth for its evening snack for a few minutes, and since birds are its main food source, it pretty much ended the bird activity. So Cooper was my last capture of the day, and it posed very nicely before stealthily exiting through the trees.

While processing the image, I zoomed in on the patterns on its breast, and is it just me or do those patterns look like bird feathers? See image 2 which is a zoomed in crop of the breast. Many of those sure look like feathers to me. How ironic, eh?
