Just One Eaglet this Year

Mama Eagle has been raising Bald Eaglets in this nest for many years, and this season was a little different—just one young one in the family. No doubt this eaglet will be well cared for (and a little spoiled), not only by Mama, but by her attentive mate as well.

Fun Fact:

The average Bald Eagle clutch size is just under two eggs (about 1.9). If a female begins nesting around age 5 and continues into her mid-20s, that can add up to roughly 20 years of egg-laying—about 40 eggs over a lifetime (2 eggs/year × 20 years), give or take. (Source: American Eagle Foundation)
