Godspeed on Your Journey!

Sub-adult Bald Eagles display some of the most striking feather patterns as their plumage changes year by year on the journey to adulthood, which typically takes around five years. Based on the coloring of its head and wings, this eagle is likely around 2.5 years old—a beautiful moment suspended between youth and maturity. All the best on your life’s journey, and Godspeed.

On the Journey to Adulthood

Juvenile Bald Eagles spend their first several years wandering far from their natal areas, often traveling great distances in search of food. During their first year, mortality rates can exceed 50 percent, but survival improves significantly with age and experience as they grow stronger and more skilled in flight and hunting. Many of these moments eventually find their way into the Fine Art Print Store, where a curated selection of wildlife and nature prints is available.
