Celebrate the Hummingbirds
“Woohoo for National Hummingbird Day!” hoots our little feathered friend, a juvenile male Ruby-throated Hummingbird. That first hint of ruby on his gorget is just the beginning, and one day it will help him attract a mate and defend his territory as confidently as any seasoned adult.
Did you know?
When in flight, a hummingbird’s heart can beat at a rate of up to 1,260 beats per minute. By comparison, a human heart typically beats around 60–100 times per minute. This rapid heartbeat allows hummingbirds to meet the extreme energy demands of hovering and high-speed flight. (Source: Bird Watching HQ)
Many of these moments eventually find their way into the Fine Art Print Store, where a curated selection of wildlife and nature prints is available.
