Time for Some Nectar
This hummingbird clearwing moth takes its turn hovering and probing the flowers, an energetic summer visitor that feels more like a tiny bird than a moth as it darts from bloom to bloom.
Feeding Adaptations
Instead of a beak like a hummingbird, the hummingbird clearwing moth uses a long, tongue-like proboscis that unrolls from a coiled tube to reach nectar deep inside flowers, and its proboscis can be nearly twice the length of its body. (Source: Farmers’ Almanac)
