Fresh Fish Delivery

Papa eagle delivers a fish while its mate eagerly awaits, ready to feed dinner to the young eaglets. It won’t be long before those little gray, fuzzy heads begin peeking over the edge of the nest. Before you know it, they’ll be fledging—typically within 10 to 12 weeks—as bald eagles are among the fastest-growing birds in North America.

Fun Fact

Unlike humans and many other animals, baby eagles are born with their eyes positioned on the sides of their heads. This gives them an almost panoramic field of view—nearly 340 degrees compared to the roughly 180 degrees humans can see. With eyes placed like an eagle’s, it’s no wonder they have little trouble spotting food or keeping track of future meals. Monocular and binocular vision come naturally to these remarkable young birds.
