Look at Those Feathers!
This immature Bald Eagle’s feathering is striking and beautifully complex—likely a year or two away from transforming into full adult plumage. It’s a fleeting stage, and one worth lingering on while it lasts.
A Closer Look
The Bald Eagle’s recovery stands as one of North America’s most remarkable conservation success stories. According to the North American Breeding Bird Survey, populations increased by nearly 4% per year between 1966 and 2019. Partners in Flight estimates the global breeding population at around 200,000, while the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reported more than 316,000 Bald Eagles in the Lower 48 by 2021, including both adults and immatures. Some of these quiet moments are later shared through the Fine Art Print Store, where a curated selection of wildlife and nature prints is available.
