A Tender Moment
Great Blue Heron love birds share a quiet moment while building their nest for the season. The male, perched to the right, delivers sticks to the nest nearly 100 feet above the ground, handing them off so they can be arranged just right. During a brief pause, he gently caresses her back with his bill, and she responds in kind—a fleeting exchange that makes these moments unforgettable.
From the Field
The courtship rituals of Great Blue Herons begin when males select a nesting territory and perform displays such as neck stretching, wing flapping, and resonant calls to attract a mate. Interested females respond with their own displays, and once paired, the male gathers nesting materials for the female to place. While they form strong seasonal bonds during breeding, Great Blue Herons do not typically mate for life. (Source: Wild Bird Watching)
Some of these moments eventually find their way into the Fine Art Print Store, where a curated selection of wildlife and nature prints is available.
