Let’s Catch Some Fish

At a secret location every winter when the river freezes over, eagles from far and wide gather to compete in the “Let’s Catch Some Fish” contest. This year I was able to sneak over the bluff to observe and catch a few frames of this unique event, images never seen before now! Hundreds of eagles participated this year, both young and old, to give it their best to win a whole month’s worth of their favorite fish. They were judged on style, size of the fish, difficulty of the maneuver, talon switching and received extra points for being able to fend off steal attempts. Already looking forward to next year’s event!
